About

Dr Zoe Maiden

Navigating mental health challenges can be one of the most difficult experiences a family faces. Whether it’s the weight of depression, the exhaustion of anxiety, or the complex impact of trauma, you and your child deserve a therapeutic space that is both clinically expert and human.

I am a Senior Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of specialist experience in the NHS. My clinical background is rooted in some of the UK's most prestigious institutions; I currently serve within the National and Specialist CAMHS Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression (TAD) Clinic at South London and Maudsley (SLaM). Previously, I worked at the world-renowned Maudsley Centre for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders (MCCAED), providing me with a specialist lens for complex presentations in young people.

I specialise in providing evidence-based interventions for anxiety, depression, and trauma (PTSD). My work is grounded in the latest clinical research, ensuring that the families I support receive the most effective treatments available. My commitment to excellence in care extends to training the next generation of therapists. As the Module Lead at King’s College London (IoPPN) for the Post-Graduate Diploma in CBT for Children and Young People, I lead the training and supervision of over 40 mental health professionals each year. This role keeps me at the forefront of evidence-based practice, ensuring that the support I offer is informed by the latest clinical research.

My expertise is recognized both nationally and internationally; I have been invited to teach clinical best practices in countries such as Norway and Ghana. Additionally, I contribute to the wider field of psychology through writing, having authored treatment manuals and book chapters that help shape how we understand and treat childhood mental health.

In my therapeutic practice, I have a strong skillset in supporting Autistic and neurodivergent young people. This work is informed not only by my clinical experience but by my personal experience of neurodivergence within my own family. I understand that for many neurodivergent individuals, the challenge isn't just internal—it’s the daily reality of navigating a world that was simply not designed for them.

Central to my work is a dedication to social justice, equality and social difference. I believe that understanding a young person’s mental health requires acknowledging the social context of their lives. I strive to create an inclusive, safe environment where every identity is respected and celebrated.

My practice is about bridging the gap between world-class clinical evidence and the actual lived experience of the families I support. My goal is to provide a space where young people and families feel seen in their full complexity, acknowledging that mental health is deeply tied to the world around us. We will use evidence-based tools to overcome distress, but we will do so while honouring your identity and finding ways to navigate and thrive in the difficult and often overwhelming world we live in.
